This 1987 Chevrolet Corvette Callaway Twin Turbo convertible is one of 184 Callaway Twin Turbos built for the ’87 model year, 65 of which reportedly were convertibles. Finished in Bright Red over Saddle leather, it is powered by a Callaway-modified twin-turbocharged and intercooled 5.7-liter V8 paired with a “4+3” four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The car was sold new in South Dakota and is believed to have had three owners before being acquired by the selling dealer. Now showing just over 21k miles, this Callaway C4 Corvette convertible is offered with service records, factory books, window sticker, build sheet, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean South Carolina title.

Functional NACA ducts in the hood were part of the Callaway package and feed the air-to-air intercoolers. This car also has a Greenwood body kit with lower body extensions and a rear spoiler. The paint color is Bright Red (81U), and the selling dealer believes that the right-rear quarter panel and some of the rear deck may have been repainted. Flaws in the finish are shown in close-up photos in the gallery below and in the seller’s walk-around video, which is also provided below. The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage.

Directional 16″ alloy wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich g-Force Sport Comp-2 tires size 255/50 with 2016 date codes, which were installed in March 2017 under previous ownership in Pennsylvania. The saddle fabric convertible top with “Callaway Twin Turbo” script in the rear window is shown in its raised position in the gallery. One outside rubber strip on the driver’s door is split, and a replacement is included. The power antenna is not working, and a new antenna will go with the car. One of the plastic grommets in the fiberglass hard boot also is broken.

Optional sport bucket seats were further equipped with six-way power adjustment for driver and passenger. The Saddle leather upholstery shows wear on the bolsters. A plaque on the center console identifies this car as number 120 of the 184 Callaway Twin Turbo Corvettes built for 1987.

The C4 Corvette came standard with full digital instrumentation with the exception of the mechanical odometer, which reads just over 21k miles. A Callaway-added boost gauge sits to the right of the instrument cluster, and this car retains its factory Delco Bose cassette stereo. The air-conditioning high-pressure switch was replaced in May 2019 and the system recharged.

The L98 5.7-liter V8 is paired with a “4+3” four-speed manual transmission with automatic overdrive on the top three gears. The addition of dual turbochargers and intercoolers helped push stated output to 345 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque when new, increases of 105 horsepower and 120 lb-ft over the standard engine. Service in May 2019 reportedly included changing the synthetic oil and filter, flushing the cooling system, and lubricating the chassis.

The window sticker shows the following options: six-way power seats for driver and passenger, sport bucket seats in Saddle leather, power door locks, illuminated visor mirror, cruise control, Delco Bose cassette stereo, and Sport Handling Package.

The Carfax report shows an inconsistency in a mileage recording from 1997 in South Dakota, and because this car is more than 10 years old, the dealer is required to sell it as mileage exempt in South Carolina. The Carfax report otherwise shows linear progression of the odometer readings, no further issues, and ownership history in South Dakota, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina.

A narrated walk-around video can be viewed above and highlights cosmetic imperfections and shows the finish up close.
