I didn't want to set the reserve as low as I did but they refused to list the car unless I did so. Regardless, the car did NOT even hit the reserve. BaT has a policy that was never disclosed to me that they can allow a sale to go through if they make up the difference. I would have bought the car myself at this price and I am furious. Furious about the stupid attention one person drew to something so insignificant and not true that any buyer was scared away. I have an actual brochure from 1992 with a silver 300ZX Turbo with painted pinch welds. I really have no words for my auction except that it reminds me of virtually every experience I have had selling cars. Annoying, negative people who have never seen the car just crapping on it because they have nothing else to do. I have 2 other cars I need to sell and will not use BaT on either. I would rather burn them to the ground than deal with this crap again.

Wow!! I'm very sorry to hear this man. That really sux that BAT is like that.
I didn't know BAT would actually put money into the deal to make them sell.
Again, Sorry for your bad experience brother.

They can apply the 5% fee they charge to the sales price (and more) to make the deal go through which bolsters their sales rate. No worries as I will get over this. Just a bit salty right now and not looking forward to selling my other cars.

So sorry to hear it and is exactly what I told you in our conversation, didn't I. I would have bought it for 32 without you having to go through of putting the car back to the state for BAT sale. O well, things happen for reason but dang it, the buyer got a deal of his life time.

I was offered more than that and turned it down as well. Didn't expect the thrashing on BaT. I have 2 more cars coming up for sale and will be more realistic and patient with them.

I wouldn't typically chime in on something like this but it seems like the fair thing to do. I just sold my red F355 on BAT in the last week as well. I have heard that BAT can be a bit tough when negotiating the reserves but I didn't experience that myself fortunately. That said I clearly remember seeing the notice when I submitted/approved the listing that stated that they had the right to help fill in a gap to help the car meet "reserve" and help get it sold. Obviously it's to their advantage as they still get something out of the sale that a no-sale wouldn't give them. I'm certainly not here to stomp on anyone but at the end of the day you agreed on a minimum price and you got it. You could always choose not to post it on their site if they didn't value it as high as you do. Anyone who has watched more than a few BAT auctions knows some guys can get pretty amped up and do some bashing. On one hand it's good to have people challenging the cars and offering their insights but it can often turn dark unnecessarily. Sorry your experience didn't work out for you. As for me, I'll be putting my 968 out there (if they will meet my reserve) soon.

I understand all that you are saying which is why I agreed to sell. I really thought about just reneging but that is not me. BaT never disclosed that policy because they rejected my car the first time I submitted it due to my reserve being a little higher. Finally, this is the third car I have tried selling that was trashed online causing me to take significantly less than what is worth. My frustration is through the roof!
On another note, I am curious to see your 968 because that just happens to be my next car I am selling.
