Supercharged Brookwood Wagon Restomod ProCharged LS3 V8 Automatic Air Ride
FACT: Wagons are awesome.
That's a tenet virtually every car enthusiast believes in. But, as we all know, there's always room for improvement. That's where cars like this superb Brookwood resto-mod come into the picture. In fact, that's pretty much the definition of the phrase 'pro-touring restomod' -- taking a lit classic and dousing it in updated technology to create an unmatched driving experience with few compromises. Combining 6.2 liters of supercharged Chevrolet power with a stout 4-speed drivetrain and striking red and white aesthetics, this gruff ground-pounder draws big crowds and big compliments. And if you're one of the many enthusiasts looking for a fun classic that's unrelentingly cool, it's your ticket to car guy nirvana!
Long, large and definitely in charge, this hot rod wagon is the stuff of a muscle car nerd's dreams! You know, there's a running joke in the automotive enthusiast community that wagons are, hands down, the coolest form of transportation. And, well, after seeing this beast, we don't think that's such a bad premise. This Chevy's extensive rebuild began with a quality body-on restoration that included virtual miles of Honda Rally Red and Ford White Chocolate 2-stage. That white swaps its factory pearl for an ornate lace pattern that spans the car's roof. That lace serves as a visual foundation for a Charcoal luggage rack. And all other trim is essentially as the factory specified with the exception of a black-lined grille and a sporty Cowl Induction Hood.
Hoist that peaked bonnet and you'll find 6.2 liters of rowdy Camaro LS3 that, thanks to a polished ProCharger supercharger, creates 725 dyno-proven horsepower! That potent engine, professionally rebuilt by Performance Red Line of Quebec, spins a smooth 4L60E 4-speed that was sourced directly from GM. That transmission twists power to a tough 10-bolt axle that's finished with a posi-traction differential. That drivetrain rolls in a heavily upgraded suspension which, in addition to tubular control arms and a duo of thick sway bars, features self-leveling RideTech air ride that's complete with preset heights. As expected, all turns are power-assisted. Stops are provided by four power-assisted calipers, which grip a combination drilled, slotted and vented rotors. Compact shorty headers funnel spent gases through large-diameter pipes, which align an X-shaped crossover with rowdy cutouts and throaty Dynomax mufflers. And at the corners, attractive Boss Motorsport wheels carry 255/40ZR18 front and 275/40ZR18 rear BF Goodrich g-Force Sports.
Decked in an attractive combination of vinyl and cloth, this Chevy's tastefully customized interior is tailored and taut. Front and center, broad bench seats prop small headrests on red-stitched diamonds. Opposite those thrones, a body-matched dash hangs analog Dakota Digital telemetry above a small Auto Meter boost gauge. The driver spins a polished Billet Specialties steering wheel. Rich red carpet provides a nice contrast to the car's black vinyl while giving a subtle nod to its 2-tone exterior. And a Kenwood CD player funnels good time tunes through Addison kick speakers and Polk Audio subs that have been neatly recessed into a body-matched cargo hold.
It doesn't take Oxford's Guide to Gearheads to understand the appeal of this incredible Brookwood wagon. In fact, we can sum it up in one sentence: An attractive, supercharged resto-mod that's unique in all the right ways! Life is just too short to drive something boring.
