1952 Willys M38 24 Volt

willysforsale.com

Description The ’52 M38 was called “Best of the Flat Fenders” for good reason. This variant of the Willy’s line was made fully waterproof (including underwater driving w snorkel), the first Willly’s to have a 24-Volt electrical system, and all of the shortfalls of its MB predecessor were resolved. The M38 was outfitted with special steel safety rims, the windscreen is a bit taller, allowing taller drivers to have enough clearance to be actually able to see out the windscreen without bending over, and vacuum operated windscreen wipers, that still function. This is a real engineering treat, and is not a parted out Willy’s imitation. Serial numbers match tub, frame, parts and engine. Each confirmed by Kansas Hwy Patrol, Fort Leavenworth, and is fully registered as an antique in Kansas. Jeep comes with everything pictured, it requires no repairs, and is completely ready to enjoy!

“OKIE” was fully restored in Connecticut in 2007; has been professionally maintained and garaged since. Starts on cue, runs great at all speeds, and mechanically smooth top to bottom. All gauges work and perform as expected. Fuel Pump replaced in 2017, tires in great condition, as is matching Beechwood canvas (straps, seats, windshield, bikini top, tool covers, mirror, etc), and fully working light assemblies, including blackout lights. Also included are equipment bags from period, including original med kit, ammo cans, and supply belts, as well as inert .30 Cal Browning MG with fully rotating pedestal mount, and inert ammo belt/can.

Though I am less than 10 minutes from my work, I drive “OKIE” regularly, drive in annual 4th parades, and have driven several veterans for Veterans Day parades. It has brought many smiles to all those that have had a chance to enjoy this piece of history. As I move to make room for other projects I would like to see this original go to someone that can enjoy it like I have.

Regarding transport, you are welcome to pick up on site, or I will deliver for a fee within a 250 mile radius. I will also work with a shipper of your choice, and consider splitting transport fee to your location.
