This 1971 ICON TLC FJ40 Baja Edition is vehicle #001 of the 40th Anniversary SCORE Baja 1000 Limited Edition. It features a 6.2 liter V8 engine with 430hp paired with a 4-speed 4L65E GM automatic transmission. This transmission has five pinion gears for unrivalled strength. The Hydra-Matic 4L65 is also characterized by rigid structure and low noise design. These transmissions are state of the art for rear-drive and four-wheel-drive cars and trucks because of their adaptive shift electronic controls and GM’s proprietary Electronic Controlled Capacity Clutch (ECCC) technology.

The original Land Cruiser frame is updated with Art Morrison crafted 2"x4"x 0.180" mandrel-bent mild steel rails utilizing state of the art bending technology to create a rigid, wrinkle-free frame rail. This ICON FJ has their optional ARB front/rear locking differentials with air compressor. The suspension consists of four-wheel coil suspension, with triangulated four link rear, and panhard front linkage designs. It is a platform specific design featuring 12” true wheel travel front and rear. The steering rack is designed for mild power effect and maximum control in all environments. There is a purpose built wiring harness, ignition and dash switches. Standard seat surfaces finished in top quality OE German marine rated vinyl.

The body is built like a tank. An all-new 5/32” thick 5052 H32 aluminum body captures the original Land Cruiser character but with even greater longevity and resistance to the elements. The body is built by hand, and finished by hand. The hood is new OEM Toyota stamped steel, and the grill is a vintage part. The ICON is finished in a Teflon polyester hybrid super durable Cardinal powder coat. Each panel is hand finished before assembly, then the underside of the main body and fenders plus inside floor surfaces are coated in a heat cured polyurea coating for reduction of vibration and heat transfer as well as the surface environment. All finished require minimal maintenance with Fantastic / 50% water, never needs waxing and survives many a harsh trail.

This ICON FJ is turn-key ready for ultimate enjoyment around town or on or off the trail. It is truly a custom-built masterpiece with less than 2,000 miles since having been built. To have this Icon Baja built in this configuration today by Icon, the cost would be approximately $235,000. This ICON FJ40 includes a soft top, fire extinguisher, heavy-duty jack, tire iron, winch, fuel cans, and GPS.
