The Toyota Sera Story After wowing as a concept car at the 1987 Tokyo Motor Show, Toyota put the Sera into limited production in 1990 with its signature glass canopy and factory butterfly doors. Gordon Murray, Design Chief at McLaren, borrowed his neighbor's Toyota Sera back in 1990 to use as the basis for the doors on the iconic McLaren F1. The Sera was also the first production car with projector headlights and a factory optional surround sound stereo - the Super Live Surround Sound. Only 15,852 were produced in five years, with nearly all staying in Japan.

This Sera is one of the nicest examples in the USA.
